Human Resources

Start with onboarding or offboarding, then find official help for leave, development, hiring, pay, workplace concerns, and faculty policy.

New Hire Hub

Choose the path that matches your role. Each guide covers the preparation, questions, and first-month support that matter to that audience.

Offboarding Hub

Choose the path that matches your role. Employee and supervisor actions stay separate, and these official university destinations are the current safe starting points.

Community & Climate

Review the college climate check-in presentation and supporting data. Access is limited to current AAD faculty and staff.

University Governance

Use these university-owned sources for faculty policy and graduate conflict-of-interest questions. They are maintained by the offices responsible for the guidance.

Professional Development Support

Start with the university program that fits your goal. Ask your supervisor and AAD HR or Finance before enrolling, committing funds, or assuming additional college support is available.

University tuition benefits

Review the current eligibility, course, approval, waiver, and reimbursement rules before you register or pay.

Professional and leadership learning

Browse university learning opportunities for individual contributors, leaders, and teams through Talent Development.

Additional AAD funding

Ask AAD HR or Finance whether a current college program exists. Old local forms, caps, dates, and approval paths are not published here because ownership has not been confirmed.

Leave Resources

Use the official page for the type of leave you are considering, then contact AAD HR or the HR Service Center for questions about your circumstances, eligibility, or timing.

Hiring or Changing a Position

Start with your intent, then ask AAD HR which current college and university path applies. Old local position-request PDFs and unverified approval sequences are not published here.

Recruit or hire

Use the university recruiting and hiring guidance for current employment, search, offer, and onboarding resources.

Change employment information

Use the employee-transactions area for official university guidance on employment changes and processing.

Request an AAD position or backfill

Contact AAD HR before preparing materials. The current local owner, form, funding review, and approval route must be confirmed for the specific request.

Sensitive HR, Pay & Workplace Topics

Use the office that owns the issue rather than sharing sensitive details broadly. These routes help you reach an authoritative source without asking Inside AAD to decide an individual case.

Pay, benefits, appointment, or leave

Contact AAD HR or the HR Service Center for compensation, payroll, benefits, appointment, leave, and employment-status questions.

Faculty policy

Use Faculty Affairs and the current Faculty Handbook for faculty appointment, promotion, tenure, workload, and academic-employment policy.

Recruiting or hiring

Contact AAD HR and use the official university recruiting and hiring guidance for process questions.

Discrimination, harassment, ADA, or Title IX

Contact Civil Rights Compliance for reporting, support, accommodations, and university civil-rights processes. Use SAFE at VT for sexual-harassment or violence support and reporting options.

  • Do not include personal case details in a website-change request. Contact the responsible office through its official channel.
  • For immediate danger, call 911 instead of using this page.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Resources

A broad array of resources supports employee mental health. Virginia Tech’s Hokie Wellness page for employee mental health is the central starting point; the university and community programs below offer counseling and, in several cases, free or sliding-scale services and 24/7 crisis support.

Sexual Harassment & Assault

You can seek support whether or not you make a formal report. Choose the route that fits what you need now, and share sensitive details only with the office or confidential resource you select.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If an assault occurred within the last 72 hours, SAFE at VT has time-sensitive medical, safety, support, and reporting guidance.

Confidential resources can help you explore support and options without sharing identifying information without your consent, subject to the exceptions explained by Virginia Tech.

Civil Rights Compliance accepts university reports of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and explains available resources and resolution options.

Virginia Tech employees should review the SAFE at VT employee guidance. Some employees are responsible employees and must report certain disclosures to the Title IX Coordinator.
