Undergraduate Advising & Academic Support

Find your advisor, plan your degree, complete common academic actions, and connect with support for undergraduate students.

Find Your Advisor

Every undergraduate student has an assigned academic advisor. Use Hokie Spa to confirm your assigned advisor, or use the AAD advising-team directory to find advisors by school, program, and year.

Plan Your Degree

Use the requirements for your catalog year, check your progress in DARS, and review your plan with your advisor before making course or program decisions.

  • For the 2024-2025 catalog year and later, use the University Catalog for official curriculum and program requirements.
  • Use legacy checksheets only for 2021-2023 degree requirements. Confirm your catalog year in the top right of your DARS audit.
  • DARS shows which requirements are complete or still outstanding. HokieGPS helps you plan a course sequence and share it with your advisor.

Complete an Academic Action

Start with your advisor when you need an academic form or a change to your schedule or program. Use the current owner page instead of a saved form link so you see the latest instructions.

  • Use the AAD academic forms list when you need authorization to take courses elsewhere or request a course withdrawal.
  • Use the Registrar’s enrollment guidance when you need to drop a course, withdraw or resign from a semester, or consider a leave of absence.
  • Check the Registrar’s current calendar and change-of-major dates before starting a time-sensitive request.
